I arranged this walking holiday via Portugal walks and was very pleasantly supprised with the detailed attention provided. Turaventur was our contact throughout. They provided us with detailed walking maps and a gps and were always only a phone call away. Monzaras castle a must to see, the walking routes with detailed explanation of the different sites, accommodation and food provided were all excellent. We were left with appetite for more of the same and I highly recommend this holiday for any reasonably active persons

We arranged a week-long walk through the Alentejo with PortugalWalks.com, and Turaventur was their outfitter in Portugal. We had a great time on our walk. The staff people who worked with us were patient and friendly. Transfers were always absolutely punctual. Our lodgings were a nice variety and excellent, for the most part: first a lovely peaceful farm, then a fabulous converted monastery, and finally a little inn in the hilltown of Monsaraz. Breakfasts were always diverse and hearty. The walks were in three different areas of the Alentejo, and we appreciated the thought that went into planning that.
If you are a young person, the uploaded tracks on your cell phone will be perfect guides for you, if you are doing the walks as self-guided walks. For older folks, written directions are provided, and sometimes we wished for a little more detail. But we were never seriously lost, just had to backtrack a bit now and then.
Overall, I would rate Turaventur highly, for exploring the Alentejo of Portugal in depth.

Excellent Alentejo walk
We did the self-guided Alentejo walking tour, which we booked through Portugall Walks. It was beautiful landscape, and a well-supported tour. We really enjoyed our lodging on a farm, and an ex-convento. The meals at both places, especially the farm (which is also the office for Turaventur) were exceptional. The staff we worked with were really helpful and supportive. Joana greeted us and gave us the gpx files to download on our phones; the GPS tracks matched well with the detailed directions they gave us. She even helped me get to a dentist when I had a dental isssue, and then modified our walk that day so we could still hike in the afternoon. I highly recommend this company!

We thoroughly enjoyed our walking holiday in Alentejo. The accommodation was excellent, particularly the Convent and Guest House in Monsaraz. The farm was very sociable, sharing dinner together although the food not as good as elsewhere on the tour: cooked elsewhere and brought in.
The staff were very helpful. The notes and GPS good.
Our fellow travellers found an excellent place for a final meal, Michelin quality standard, which I’d thoroughly recommend. Herdade do Esporao. Delicious!
A couple of the walks could be modified to avoid walking uphill alongside cars eg end of Megalithic Monuments walk and climb to Monsaraz.
I found this a personal way to explore Alentejo, combining walking with good food and wine and the charm of the Portuguese.
